Cherry Professional Ltd is assisting with a Fleet Engineer role in Leicester. The successful candidate will ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant and cost-effective, acting as a technical expert across maintenance providers and internal teams.

The role combines technical skill with commercial awareness to improve uptime, manage costs and deliver high service standards for customers and stakeholders. A proactive, data-driven approach with strong negotiation capabilities is essential.

Competenze

• Fully qualified HGV Technician status or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years' HGV engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repair standards.

Mansioni

• Manage and develop relationships with external maintenance providers.
• Establish and monitor service level agreements to ensure quality, response times and fleet availability targets.
• Conduct supplier reviews and challenge underperformance to drive continuous improvement.
• Review repair quality, technical recommendations and recurring vehicle faults.
• Investigate root causes of maintenance issues and implement preventative solutions.
• Negotiate repair costs, warranty claims and goodwill contributions with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Support customers and internal stakeholders with technical guidance and engineering expertise.
• Analyse maintenance data and performance trends to identify risks and opportunities.
• Produce reports and recommendations to improve fleet efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Ensure all engineering decisions support vehicle compliance, safety and customer service delivery.
• Contribute to ongoing operational improvement initiatives through the effective use of systems, data and technology.
