Job summary

Lancashire County Council is recruiting a Vehicle and Plant Supervisor based at our Thornton depot to lead a team of technicians in maintenance, servicing and repair of a varied fleet. You’ll ensure compliance with MOT and roadworthiness standards and drive high service levels for essential frontline operations.

You will oversee diagnostic fault-finding, use up-to-date tools, and liaise with senior management to meet KPIs, while upholding LOLER regulations and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• The successful candidates will be responsible for and have knowledge of managing a team of vehicle & plant technicians, providing support, advice and leadership to plan and carry out reactive repairs and scheduled maintenance.
• Understanding and knowledge of MOT and roadworthiness standards in compliance with the organisation's O license regulations.
• Experience in repairing and maintaining a wide range of vehicles and plant with diagnostic fault-finding processes using up-to-date tools & equipment.
• Ensuring vehicles are presented to the highest standards that our customers expect, including excellent communication and planning of expected timescales.
• Delivery of service to customers who operate specialist vehicles and plant machinery such as winter maintenance.
• Liaising with senior management and stakeholders to meet performance objectives and KPIs and improve service levels.
• MOT testing and quality procedures.
• Working knowledge of LOLER regulations and how it applies to fleet operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of vehicle & plant technicians and provide leadership to plan and carry out repairs and maintenance.
• Carry out MOT testing and ensure compliance with roadworthiness standards.
• Diagnose faults and oversee repair work using up-to-date tools and equipment.
• Ensure vehicles are presented to the highest standards with clear communication on timescales.
• Deliver a high-quality service to customers using specialist vehicles and plant machinery.
• Engage with senior management to meet KPIs and improve service levels.
• Maintain awareness of LOLER regulations within fleet operations.
