Royal Mail Group is recruiting for a Workshop Shift Supervisor at Acton Workshop. This permanent role offers leadership over a vehicle workshop team to deliver safe, efficient maintenance across a large fleet, including LCVs and HGVs, with a focus on high-quality repairs and production planning.

Qualifications

• Experienced leader managing a team of vehicle technicians.
• Fully qualified to Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle (or equivalent).
• Proven vehicle technician experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Valid UK manual driving licence (preferably HGV).
• Flexible to service demands and shift rota.

Responsibilities

• Lead Weekly Team Meetings and shift huddles, and support the workshop management team.
• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
• Use your own toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in the workshops.
• Maintain stock controls and ensure work orders and vehicle documentation are completed.

We are now recruiting Workshop Shift Supervisors at Acton Workshop on a Permanentcontract, with the potential to earn up to £80k including overtime.

Working Hours:

Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (rotating shift pattern; week 1 & week 2: 06:00 - 14:30, week 3: 09:30 - 18:00 Monday to Friday.

There is currently no requirement for Saturday working, although this may be introduced in the future.

A bit about the role

With a Fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, including traditional fuel and electric vehicles, LCVs and HGVs, maintaining our vehicles is a true team effort. Reporting to the Fleet Workshop Manager, the Shift Supervisor provides a pivotal supporting role to the Workshop management team. Responsible for leading operations across a shift in line with production planning and control requirements, you'll deploy agreed processes and staff resources to ensure the Workshop operates safely and delivers high levels of quality and efficiency.

• You’ll be first line leadership delivering Weekly Team Meetings, shift huddles and have involvement in the remedial approach to conduct issues whilst ensuring a Technicians' wellbeing following return from sick absence.
• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment, when required.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.
• You’ll perform effective stock control processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of work orders and associated vehicle documentation to meet both business and legal requirements.

A bit about you

• Experienced leader: you've managed a team of vehicle technicians with excellent knowledge of H&S and have the ability to communicate technical issues to the team.
• Qualified mechanic: you're fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You've got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you're able to work on a flexible shift rota. You're always willing to support your team where necessary.
