Job summary

Lancashire County Council in Burnley is seeking a Vehicle and Plant Technician to maintain our fleet across Highways and frontline services. You’ll diagnose, repair, and service LGVs, PSVs, light vehicles, and plant machinery to keep essential services moving.

This 37-hour role offers overtime at time and a quarter and a tool allowance, plus a standby rota with weekly £171.45. You’ll mentor apprentices and contribute to ongoing training, including EV/hybrid systems.

Qualifications

• Level 3 automotive qualification required.
• Category B driving licence required.
• Experience in Plant/Mobile Technician, Light Vehicle Technician, PSV/HGV Technician or Auto Electrician.
• Proactive approach and good communicator.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles including LGVs, PSVs, light vehicles and plant machinery.
• Fit, service and repair auxiliary equipment such as tail lifts, trackers, cameras, heaters, generators, pumps and winter service equipment.
• Deliver high-quality work to keep frontline services operational, from gritting and highways to mobile libraries.
