Job summary

Axis, part of Axis CLC, is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Controller to develop and implement strategic maintenance programs for a diverse UK fleet. You will drive cost efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance while partnering with leadership, suppliers and operational teams.

You will oversee maintenance scheduling, repairs, breakdown response, supplier SLAs, and fleet accreditation. The role requires strong leadership, negotiation, project management and data-driven decision making in a

Qualifications

• Proven track record in managing large-scale fleet maintenance operations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership abilities.
• Experience with cost control, budgeting and procurement in fleet functions.
• Experience implementing fleet compliance and accreditation programs.
• Experience leading a fleet maintenance team and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a structured maintenance plan for all company vehicles, including long-term hires and company cars.
• Coordinate vehicle repairs with external providers for quality and cost efficiency.
• Lead breakdown response strategies to minimise downtime and track VOR times.
• Establish, negotiate and oversee supplier SLAs for value-driven partnerships.
• Ensure transport accreditation and regulatory compliance including safety inspections.
• Oversee procurement and cost management of tyres and maintenance components.
• Implement defect monitoring and preventative maintenance to reduce reoccurrence.
• Develop and execute a proactive fleet maintenance strategy to minimise downtime.
