Job summary

Stena Line is recruiting Engine Ratings with passenger vessel experience to join our fleet pool. You will support our engine teams onboard while developing skills on our vessels, with no fixed location and work on all Irish Sea vessels. Duties include maintenance, watch-keeping, and safety patrols, in a 24-hour schedule.

You will be part of a small engine team, require a hands-on attitude and be ready to learn, with focus on safety and operational readiness onboard.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English.
  • Valid right to work in the UK and UK National Insurance number.
  • Basic STCW training and ENG1 certificates.
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat training.
  • Engine Watch Rating certificate (III/4) OR Able Seafarer Engine (III/5) CoC.
  • Passenger vessel experience is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Act in accordance with your responsibilities in the vessel's emergency organisation.
  • Carry out engine room watch-keeping duties as directed.
  • Carry out engine room fire and safety patrols as directed.
  • Assist in the maintenance of engine room firefighting and safety equipment as directed by the second engineer.
  • Be familiar with the SMS procedures outlined within the DOCMAP system.
  • Take an active interest in duties above your rank to build hands-on confidence.

Are you an Engine rating looking for a great work-life balance? Stena Line is recruiting Engine Ratings with passenger vessel experience to join our fleet pool! In this role, you will support our engine teams onboard while developing your skills and knowledge on our vessels. You will have no set location and have the opportunity to work on all of our Irish Sea vessels. As an Engine Rating, you will work with planned maintenance jobs, operational duties and general maintenance of parts of the vessel managed by the Chief/ Second engineer. The job also includes cleaning, painting and greasing. Some of your key responsibilities:

  • Acting in accordance with your responsibilities in the vessel's emergency organisation.
  • Carrying out engine room watch-keeping duties as directed.
  • Carrying out engine room fire and safety patrols as directed.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of all engine room firefighting and safety equipment as directed by the second engineer.
  • Be familiar with the relevant parts, procedures and requirements of the SMS contained within the DOCMAP system.
  • Take an active interest in the duties above your rank to ensure confidence in stepping up and the ability to be hands-on.
