Job summary

Gap Personnel Limited is seeking an experienced Fleet & Driver Manager to oversee maintenance, compliance and performance of the fleet, while leading and developing the driver team across van, rigid and artic drivers.

The role combines office-based duties with on-site support, driver training and ensuring safety, compliance and customer service. Temporary-to-permanent with potential permanent placement for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fleet management and transport operations.
• Leadership experience with driver teams.
• Knowledge of HGV fleet maintenance and Operator Licence compliance.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement proactive maintenance schedules for HGVs, trailers and equipment.
• Ensure daily vehicle defect reports are completed and issues resolved promptly.
• Maintain compliance with Operator Licence requirements and inspections.
• Monitor fleet performance, costs and downtime for efficiency gains.
• Lead driver team, from apprentices to Class 1 HGV drivers.
• Deliver training, appraisals and manage holidays/inductions.
• Champion health and safety and high standards of service delivery.
• Investigate incidents and drive continuous improvement.
