Job summary

BJF Group is seeking a Fleet Coordinator to oversee vehicles and drivers, ensuring safety, compliance and efficient utilisation across the business. The role covers allocation, maintenance, inspections, repairs and replacements, with emphasis on driver onboarding and ongoing development.

You will monitor performance metrics, manage external suppliers, and drive cost savings while maintaining high safety and legal standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fleet management or transport operations.
• Strong knowledge of fleet legislation, transport regulations and compliance requirements.
• Good understanding of MOTs, vehicle inspections, taxation, servicing and maintenance requirements.
• Knowledge of driver licensing requirements and driver compliance.
• Understanding of the Highway Code and relevant transport legislation and guidance.
• Experience managing vehicle maintenance, repairs and managing external suppliers, contractors and service providers to help minimise vehicle downtime.
• Experience using fleet management, telematics or vehicle tracking systems.
• Awareness of environmental considerations, including electric vehicles, alternative fuels and carbon reduction.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily fleet availability and ensure vehicles are fit, safe and available for operational requirements.
• Manage vehicle allocation, utilisation and availability across the business.
• Coordinate vehicle servicing, maintenance, inspections, repairs and MOT requirements.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns, defects and operational issues, minimising downtime and reporting incidents.
• Maintain accurate fleet, vehicle and driver records with up-to-date audit trails.
• Conduct regular driver licence checks and manage driver compliance.
• Oversee driver onboarding, induction, training, and ongoing development.
• Monitor fleet performance indicators: availability, utilisation, fuel efficiency, downtime, infringements, accidents, CO2.
• Monitor fleet expenditure and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
