Job summary

Co-op UK is seeking a General Manager – Fleet & Compliance to lead our national logistics fleet and ensure safe, compliant operations across ~2,000 vehicles and 1,000 MHE. You’ll shape strategy, governance and performance, from procurement to lifecycle management, while driving Net Zero ambitions.

This hybrid role combines strategic leadership with hands-on stakeholder engagement, regulatory liaison and transformational fleet initiatives across our sites and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading fleet, transport or logistics operations within a large and complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation, operator licensing and compliance standards.
• Experience developing fleet strategies and managing major supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the long-term fleet, MHE and compliance strategy, ready for future changes.
• Lead the management and performance of the national fleet operation: procurement, lifecycle, maintenance and disposal.
• Act as SME on transport legislation, operator licensing and fleet compliance for the logistics operation.
• Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies, enforcement agencies, suppliers and industry partners.
• Lead major fleet procurement and tender activities and shape future vehicle and maintenance solutions.
• Drive innovation by identifying new technologies, alternative fuels and sustainable fleet solutions.
• Oversee supplier performance, commercial agreements and significant fleet investment decisions.
• Lead and develop a specialist team while influencing senior stakeholders across logistics and the wider business.
