McCarthy Recruitment Ltd in New Southgate is seeking a Department Manager to lead a large, high-turnover department within a flagship builders' merchant. You will drive performance, lead sizeable teams, and contribute to branch success.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape service standards, commercial decisions and team development, while maintaining a fast-paced, hands-on leadership style with strong emphasis on safety and customer experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in leading large teams in a trade/retail environment.
• Experience driving sales, margin and customer experience in a high-turnover setting.
• Strong ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.

Responsibilities

• Full leadership accountability for a large, multi-function department within a flagship branch.
• Drive sales, margin and profit through strong execution and customer focus.
• Lead, coach and develop managers and departmental teams.
• Create a service-led, trade-focused culture with high standards.
• Own departmental KPIs, budgets and commercial performance.
• Lead performance management, succession planning and talent development.
• Maintain a compliant, safe trading environment.
• Act as senior ambassador for the business within the branch and wider operation.
