Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting a Domestic Assistant to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at Ipswich. You will support patients, staff and visitors by carrying out daily cleaning, deep-cleaning and infection-control tasks while following all safety procedures.

You’ll work as part of a friendly team to deliver high standards of cleanliness and patient care. The role requires attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily cleaning tasks including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waste disposal, and replenishing supplies.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with national cleaning specifications.
• Complete discharge, deep-clean, and infection-control cleaning tasks as required.
• Follow cleaning schedules, document work, and ensure procedures are followed.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment per COSHH regulations.
• Report faults, hazards, accidents, or incidents promptly.
• Keep cleaning cupboards, equipment, and stock organized.
• Dispose of general and clinical waste correctly.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Follow health, safeguarding, infection prevention and confidentiality requirements.

What you’ll do:

• Carry out daily cleaning tasks including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waste disposal, and replenishing supplies.

• Follow cleaning schedules, complete documentation, and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with COSHH regulations.
• Report faulty equipment, hazards, accidents, or incidents promptly.
• Ensure cleaning cupboards, equipment, and stock levels are maintained and organised.
• Remove and dispose of general and clinical waste correctly.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support a safe and welcoming environment.
• Follow all health & safety, safeguarding, infection prevention, and confidentiality requirements.

What you bring:

• Previous cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, COSHH, and Health & Safety practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
• A positive, reliable, and professional approach.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/5 or equivalent).
