Job summary

Sodexo, at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury, seeks a Domestic Supervisor to lead a team of Domestic Assistants and maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors. You will manage staffing, training, audits and resource deployment to ensure high-quality service and infection prevention.

The role requires leadership in a healthcare setting, attention to detail and strong communication to support a patient-focused environment and budget adherence.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a cleaning/domestic or facilities team in a healthcare or similarly demanding setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete audits and documentation accurately.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks and manage a busy domestic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Domestic Assistants to maintain high cleanliness, hygiene and service standards.
• Organise daily staffing, rotas, annual leave and overtime to ensure correct coverage.
• Respond to Helpdesk and Navenio requests, prioritising urgent needs and deploying resources accordingly.
• Carry out regular quality and cleanliness audits and take action to improve standards.
• Support recruitment, induction, training, competency checks and appraisals for staff development.
• Manage domestic equipment and materials, ensuring proper use and budget adherence.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, patients, clients and hospital teams while following health, safety and confidentiality procedures.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and support a team of Domestic Assistants, making sure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and service are consistently maintained across the hospital.
• Organise daily staffing, rotas, annual leave and overtime, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time.
• Respond quickly and effectively to requests through the Helpdesk and Navenio systems, prioritising urgent requirements and deploying resources accordingly.
• Carry out regular quality and cleanliness audits, taking prompt action where standards need to improve.
• Support recruitment, induction, training, competency checks and appraisals, helping colleagues develop and perform at their best.
• Manage domestic equipment and materials responsibly, ensuring they are clean, secure, well maintained and used within budget.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, patients, clients and other hospital teams, while always following health, safety, infection prevention, confidentiality and trust procedures.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience of supervising or leading a cleaning, domestic or facilities team, ideally within a healthcare or similarly demanding environment.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to complete audits, records and other documentation accurately.
• Physical ability to carry out manual aspects of the role.
• A proactive approach and the confidence to respond quickly to service requests and resolve issues effectively.
• Professional integrity, reliability, and a positive attitude.
• A customer-focused approach, with clear communication skills and a commitment to delivering a high-quality, responsive service for patients, colleagues and clients.
