Job summary

Try Temps Limited in Tipton is seeking an experienced Fitter Welder for an ongoing contract at a busy scrap metal recycling site. The role involves fitting, maintenance, repair and welding of scrap processing machinery and heavy plant.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in scrap yards or heavy industry, with fault-finding abilities and a practical approach. Night shifts Monday to Friday, 5:30pm - 2:00am at Tipton.

Qualifications

• Practical experience as fitter/welder in heavy industry or scrap site.
• Able to weld and fabricate machinery and components.
• Strong fault-finding skills and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance and repairs.
• Weld and fabricate machinery, components and structures.
• Maintain and repair scrap processing equipment, including shredders, conveyors, balers, crushers and associated plant.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and carry out fault-finding.
• Complete planned maintenance and routine inspections.
• Assist with mobile and heavy plant maintenance.
• Replace and repair worn or damaged components.
• Identify mechanical faults and carry out practical repairs.
• Safely isolate machinery before maintenance work.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.

Pay: £17.00 per hour

We are recruiting an experienced Fitter Welder for an ongoing contract at a busy scrap metal recycling site in Tipton.

This is a hands-on role involving the fitting, maintenance, repair and welding of scrap processing machinery and heavy plant. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a scrap yard, recycling plant, waste processing, heavy industry or a similar environment.

The Role

• Carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance and repairs.
• Weld and fabricate machinery, components and structures.

The Candidate

• Previous mechanical fitting or maintenance experience.
