Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and knowledge of Distribution/Transport Systems is advantageous.

Job description

Join our team as a First Line Manager!

We are recruiting for a permanent line manager to work in the operation at JD Sports Dunstable. You will motivate, encourage, guide, and manage team members to meet KPI's and performance requirements.

This is a 4 on 4 off role for the day shift.

Salary: £34,000 per annum

How will you contribute?
  1. Daily running of the Transport operation.
  2. Ensuring completion of all administrative and legislative tasks required to maintain performance of the operation.
  3. To liaise with other departments to avoid delayed departures and/or deliveries.
  4. Ensure operational security requirements are adhered to, e.g., vehicle keys, phones, fuel cards.
  5. Engage directly with customer service to provide updates regarding deliveries.
  6. Management of tachograph records for the driver team.
  7. Promote good driver behaviors using tools like Mix telematics.
  8. Provide leadership and motivation for admin and driver teams, including regular 121s, career discussions, and succession planning.
  9. Conduct investigations and accident investigations in a timely manner.
  10. Assist with vehicle defect management via the VOR process.
  11. Participate in recruitment, training, and coaching of colleagues.
  12. Manage sickness absence processes, including record keeping and RTW interviews.
  13. Work across both locations in the Midland Campus.
What will you bring?
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in information.
  • Experience in a transport or busy operational environment (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Understanding of drivers' working time directive and EU regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications; knowledge of Distribution/Transport Systems is advantageous.
  • CPC transport license is a plus.
