Job summary

Altrad Services A/S is seeking a Fire Safety Assessor to manage fire safety for MEHA responsibilities at the HPC site in Somerset. The role focuses on developing and maintaining fire safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating with site teams to ensure compliance with NNB requirements.

The successful candidate will hold Level 3 or Level 4 Fire Risk Assessor qualifications (Level 4 by Q2 2026) and may have NEBOSH Fire Certificate, Diploma in Fire Safety Lv4, or IOSH Managing

Qualifications

• Fire Risk Assessor Level 3 or Level 4 with Complex Buildings experience.
• Level 4 required by Q2 2026.
• Desirable qualifications include NEBOSH Fire Certificate, Diploma in Fire Safety Lv4 (Fire Inspector), IOSH Managing Safety.

Responsibilities

• Accountable to the MEHA Fire Safety Manager for the performance of the key deliverables.
• Promote and support the development of a positive fire safety culture among MEHA employees and stakeholders.
• Intervening where shortfalls in fire safety have been identified and assist in the rectification of standards to allow safe continuation of works.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of fire safety systems, procedures, and policies.
• Conduct fire safety inspections for development of fire risk assessments and ongoing monitoring to ensure effectiveness.
• Champion continuous improvement in fire safety practices and systems across the construction site.
• Using Fieldview, ensure fire risk assessments are produced in a timely manner for MEHA areas of responsibility and MEHA works.
• Maintain fire risk assessments to ensure they are suitable and sufficient for the works being undertaken and risk of fire.
• Cooperate with other contractor's fire risk assessor to ensure approach to fire risk assessments are coordinated.
• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the NNB site processes and procedures relating to fire safety to ensure advice and guidance provided to MEHA operations are compliant with NNB requirements.

About The Role

The MEHA Fire Safety Team is responsible for managing Fire Safety in the areas of MEHA responsibility in accordance with the NNB Work Authorisation procedure and contributes to the overall fire safety on HPC. The team ensures that fire safety standards are established, consistently met, and maintained throughout the lifecycle of the project. This is achieved through close collaboration with MEHA construction and delivery teams, as well as other site contractors.

Key Requirements / Qualifications

Essential

• Fire Risk Assessor Level 3 or Level 4 with Complex Buildings experience (level 4 required by Q2 2026).

Desirable

• NEBOSH Fire Certificate
• Diploma in Fire Safety Lv4 (Fire Inspector)
• IOSH Managing Safety
• Previous experience of fire safety in the construction industry or other high risk/complex environments.
