Job summary

Arup is seeking Fire Engineers to join our UK team and help deliver a growing portfolio of high-impact projects. You will be part of a 400+ strong fire safety skills network across 20 offices, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Qualification in a relevant subject (fire engineering, other types of engineering, or architecture related).
• Experience in a fire engineering consultancy or similar environment (industry related).
• Knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance used in the UK.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills - be collaborative, be creative and engaging.
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, working to tight deadlines and juggling multiple demands and deliverables.
• Proactivity in resolving issues, creating solutions, relying on others as required for assistance and experience.

Responsibilities

• Understand and implement the principle of fire science on real projects via the engineering process (goals, objectives, building appraisal and hazards, design fire scenarios).
• Develop and implement fire strategies in collaboration with the design team and relevant stakeholders.
• Investigate and apply appropriate legislation and design guidance for use on projects.
• Support Chartered Engineer status progression where applicable.
