Job summary

Alecto Recruitment is seeking experienced Fire & Security Service/Maintenance Engineers across the West Midlands. You will service and maintain Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting systems across client sites. The role includes on-site work, travel between sites and on-call duties.

Structured training will develop multi-discipline skills for long-term career growth. You’ll join a team with a competitive salary (£36,000–£42,000), company van, healthcare and benefits,

Qualifications

• Field-based engineering experience in Fire & Security.
• Experience across at least two of Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV or Emergency Lighting.
• Strong fault-finding and practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• IATA FIA, ECS/CSCS, IPAF or manufacturer training is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting systems.
• Diagnosing faults and delivering first-time fixes where possible.
• Completing small works and remedials, including device replacements and upgrades.
• Producing service reports and certificates using mobile systems.
• Managing workload and travelling between client sites.
• Liaising with customers and site contacts with clear updates.
• Managing van stock, tools and equipment.
• Supporting the service desk with technical feedback.

Alecto Recruitment is looking to hear from experienced Multi-Disciplined Fire & Security Engineers looking for their next opportunity.

This is a great role for an engineer who enjoys variety. You’ll be working across Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting, carrying out service, maintenance, fault finding and small remedial works across a range of client sites.

And if you’re not fully confident across every discipline, that’s not a problem — structured training and development will be provided to bring you up to standard.

What You'll Be Doing

• Servicing and maintaining Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting systems.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out efficient first-time fixes wherever possible.
• Completing small works and remedials, including device replacements, adjustments, upgrades and minor installations.
• Completing service reports, certificates and compliance paperwork using mobile/digital systems.
• Managing your own workload and travelling between client sites.
• Liaising professionally with customers and site contacts, providing clear updates and technical advice.
• Managing van stock, tools, test equipment and materials.
• Supporting the service desk with clear job notes and technical feedback.
• Participating in the 1 in 6 on-call rota and responding to emergency call-outs when required.

What We're Looking For

• Proven field-based engineering experience within the Fire & Security industry.
• Experience across at least two of the following: Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV or Emergency Lighting.
• Strong fault-finding skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Someone who can work independently and manage their own workload.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
• FIA, ECS/CSCS, IPAF or manufacturer training would be advantageous, but not essential.
• Knowledge of relevant standards such as BS 5839 and BS 5266 would be beneficial.

If you’re strong in Fire Alarm and Security but need development in CCTV, Access Control or another discipline, the company will invest in you through structured training, mentoring and formal courses where required.

The aim is to build genuinely multi-disciplined engineers who can attend a site, diagnose the problem and get as much work resolved first time as possible.
