Job summary

Alecto Recruitment is seeking a Fire & Security Service/Maintenance Engineer to cover sites across the Midlands. You will service and maintain Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting systems, with a focus on first-time fixes.

You will manage your workload, travel between clients, and use mobile reporting tools. A valid UK driving licence and a proactive, customer-focused approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven field-based engineering experience within Fire & Security.
• Experience across at least two of: Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV, or Emergency Lighting.
• Strong fault-finding and practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• FIA, ECS/CSCS, IPAF or manufacturer training advantageous.
• Knowledge of BS 5839/BS 5266 beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting systems.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out first-time fixes where possible.
• Completing small works and minor installations, including replacements and upgrades.
• Completing service reports, certificates and compliance paperwork using mobile/digital systems.
• Managing workload and travelling between client sites.
• Liaising with customers and site contacts, providing updates and technical advice.
• Managing van stock, tools, test equipment and materials.
• Supporting the service desk with clear job notes and feedback.
• Participating in the on-call rota and responding to emergencies when required.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

• Proven field-based engineering experience within the Fire & Security industry.
• Experience across at least two of the following: Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV or Emergency Lighting.
• Strong fault-finding skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Someone who can work independently and manage their own workload.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
• FIA, ECS/CSCS, IPAF or manufacturer training would be advantageous, but not essential.
• Knowledge of relevant standards such as BS 5839 and BS 5266 would be beneficial.

If you're strong in Fire Alarm and Security but need development in CCTV, Access Control or another discipline, the company will invest in you through structured training, mentoring and formal courses where required.

The aim is to build genuinely multi-disciplined engineers who can attend a site, diagnose the problem and get as much work resolved first time as possible.
