Job summary

Fixfire is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Service Engineer to support Midlands and surrounding areas. You will service and maintain fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and nurse call systems, while ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction.

You’ll work with a team focused on quality, safety, and professional service, with a path for training and development within a values-driven business. Coventry-based opportunities exist within a growing field service team.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining fire alarm or life safety systems.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (BS 5839, etc.).
• Professional, well-organised with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned annual and intermediate servicing of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and related equipment.
• Diagnose faults and complete remedial works to a high professional standard.
• Attend emergency and non-routine service calls as required; participate in on-call rota.

The Role – What you’ll be doing

• Carry out planned annual and intermediate servicing and maintenance of:
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Emergency lighting
  • Nurse call / patient call systems
  • Associated life safety equipment
• Diagnose faults and complete remedial works to a high professional standard
• Attend emergency and non‑routine service calls when required
• Participate in the on‑call rota, providing reliable out‑of‑hours support to customers
• Certify all works in line with BS 5839‑1:2025 and other applicable standards
• Deliver work efficiently while upholding Fixfire’s quality, compliance and customer‑first values
• Accurately complete service documentation and reports using company systems
• This role is about doing things properly – safely, compliantly, and with pride.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience maintaining fire alarm or similar life & property protection systems
• Strong working knowledge of fire alarm systems and relevant industry standards
• Relevant industry qualifications (or working towards them)
• A professional, well‑organised approach and good communication skills
• A positive attitude and a genuine commitment to customer service

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience with Access Control, Nurse Call, Intruder Alarms or CCTV
• Familiarity with systems such as Advanced, Protec, Morley, Gent and patient call systems

Security Screening

This is a full‑time, permanent role. Due to the environments we work in, enhanced security screening will be required.
