Job summary

SER Limited in Essex is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to service and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems across commercial and public-sector sites. You will travel across Essex and surrounding areas, performing fault finding, planned maintenance and remedial works, while delivering professional service to customers and site representatives.

The role offers a basic salary of £35,000–£42,000, company vehicle, overtime, ongoing training and clear progression

Qualifications

Fire Alarm Service Engineer – Essex

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join a rapidly growing and well-established organisation operating across the fire, electrical and compliance sectors.

The role will involve travelling across Essex and the surrounding areas, servicing and maintaining fire alarm and life safety systems across a diverse range of commercial and public-sector sites.

The Role

As a Fire Alarm Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and remedial works of fire alarm and life safety systems.

You’ll work independently across a varied client base, ensuring systems are maintained to a high standard and providing a professional service to customers and site representatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Service and maintain a range of fire alarm systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works.
• Diagnose faults and complete remedial works.
• Carry out testing and maintenance in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Service and maintain emergency lighting and other life safety systems.
• Service and maintain fire extinguishers where required.
• Complete accurate service reports, worksheets and relevant documentation.
• Identify additional remedial requirements and communicate these clearly to clients.
• Provide a professional and high level of customer service.
• Manage your own workload and appointments effectively.
• Liaise with clients, site teams and internal departments.
• Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota when required.
• Ensure all works are completed safely, professionally and to a high standard.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer with a strong technical background and good knowledge of fire alarm and life safety systems.

You should have experience in:

• Fire alarm systems
• Fault finding and diagnostics
• Planned preventative maintenance
• Reactive maintenance
• Emergency lighting
• Fire extinguishers
• Life safety systems

You should be confident working independently, managing your own workload and dealing directly with customers and site representatives.

You’ll also need:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• A professional and proactive approach.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to diagnose faults and identify effective solutions.
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
