Job summary

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing is seeking a Money Matters Caseworker to join our Tenancy Sustainability Service in Rochdale to deliver welfare benefits, debt advice and tenancy support. You will work with customers to maximise income, access entitlements and prevent tenancy difficulties.

The role requires strong communication, IT skills and empathy for customers facing financial challenges; a driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.

Qualifications

• Experience providing advice and support in welfare benefits, debt, housing or a related field.
• Strong understanding of welfare benefits, debt and housing legislation.
• Experience managing a demanding caseload and prioritising effectively.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work with customers facing complex or challenging circumstances.
• Customer-focused approach with empathy and understanding of social issues.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to use multiple systems.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist welfare benefits, debt and financial inclusion advice.
• Help customers maximise income and access benefits and entitlements.
• Assist with benefit claims, reconsiderations, appeals and reviews.
• Support with priority debts and realistic repayment plans.
• Work to prevent rent arrears, tenancy breakdown and homelessness.
• Identify and support vulnerable customers with tailored interventions.
• Access grants and external funding for essential household needs and fuel poverty.
• Build relationships with local authorities, DWP, Citizens Advice, credit unions and creditors.
• Deliver financial inclusion initiatives and campaigns.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service improvements.
• Provide training and support to colleagues across the organisation.
