Job summary

Omega Resource Group in Worcester is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to manage day-to-day financial control, reporting and statutory compliance. You will report to the Finance Director and lead a small accounts team across management accounting, payroll, cashflow and project accounting.

The ideal candidate will hold ACA/ACCA/CIMA, have SME finance leadership experience, strong management accounting, and proficient in Excel and Sage 50.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Experience managing a finance function within an SME environment.
• Strong management accounting and financial control experience.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using Sage 50.
• Knowledge of MRP systems, stock accounting and WIP calculations.
• Experience within engineering, manufacturing, industrial or equivalent environment.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Lead and develop the accounts team.
• Oversee payroll processes (weekly/monthly).
• Manage PAYE, pension schemes and compliance.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
• Forecast cashflow and manage cash.

Financial Controller

Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the company, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting and statutory compliance.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a key leadership position offering broad responsibility across management accounting, payroll, cashflow, project accounting and team management.

Main Duties – Financial Controller

• Production of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Leading and developing the accounts team
• Overseeing weekly and monthly payroll processes
• Managing PAYE, pension schemes and associated compliance activities
• Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
• Cashflow forecasting and cash management
• Monthly project analysis and profitability reporting
• Oversight of credit control, sales ledger and purchase ledger functions
• Managing project accounting
• Supporting annual audit processes and tax compliance requirements
• Partnering with the Finance Director on business improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Financial Controller

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
• Previous experience managing a finance function within an SME environment
