Trial Balance Consulting seeks a Financial Controller to own the finance function, reporting to the CEO and working in a hybrid environment. The role will lead financial decision making, controls, payroll and liaison with external accountants as the business scales.
The successful candidate will likely come from a Finance Manager or FC background, with AAT or higher qualification, and a modern, tech-enabled approach to finance in a growing SME.

Due to continued expansion, the company has tasked us with sourcing their first Financial Controller. In this role the successful candidate will assume the finance-number-one role within the company, working closely with the CEO and senior management team. Reporting to the CEO and supported by an experienced Accounts Manager, this will be a broad and interesting role, and as a newly created post within the business, offers a superb opportunity for the successful candidate to build on the foundations of a modern and efficient finance function. With a turnover circa £5M but with a range of significant new client contracts confirmed, the new FC will play a key part in managing the day-to-day financial controls of the business, as well as working with thesenior management team to ensure robust future strategy. For this role we’re equally focussed on existing experience as we are the aptitude to develop with a growing business whose turnover is likely to increase quite dramatically over the coming years. The successful candidate will likely be operating at either Finance Manager or Financial Controller level, and ideally possess good experience gained within a fast paced, growing SME. Applicants should be AAT qualified or higher, though our client is also happy to consider candidates that possess time served vocational experience. This is a modern, technology driven business so a passion for a paperless digital working environment, harnessing new technology will be essential. It’s a visible role that works closely with department heads and the senior management team, as well as mentoring an existing employee, so excellent team-working skills essential.
