Job summary

TMRG seeks a hands-on Financial Controller in Birmingham to join the leadership team and influence strategy, systems and growth in a fast-moving consumer-led SME within a flexible hybrid setup.

You will manage financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, produce monthly statements, and work with the Board on strategic financial decisions while ensuring accuracy and compliance across balance sheet, cash flow and payroll.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Financial Controller in a consumer/retail environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Hands-on approach with autonomous working style.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Create monthly and annual reports identifying results, trends and forecasts.
• Oversee balance sheets, reconciliations, cashflow, credit control and payroll.
• Lead month-end and year-end processes ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Handle inventory accounting/valuation and intercompany accounting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and partner with the Board on strategic decisions.

What will you do as a Financial Controller?

• Managing financial reporting, Budgeting & forecasting
• Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
• Balance Sheets, Reconciliations & Cashflow, Credit Control & Payroll
• Lead month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Inventory accounting & valuation, ensuring accurate reporting and alignment
• Prepare monthly financial statement, intercompany accounting
• Partner closely with the Board of Directors on strategic financial decisions

What do you need as a Financial Controller?

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller
• Experience with consumer/retailing
• ACCA, ACMA ACA Qualified
• Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical skills and problem solving
• Demonstrate a hands-on approach and ability to work autonomously
