Job summary

Heap & Co in Haverhill is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead the finance function and provide senior leadership with high-quality financial insight and reporting. The role covers financial control, commercial analysis, process improvement, and team leadership.

You will prepare monthly management accounts, lead budgeting and forecasting, analyse costs and variances, support audits, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred.
• Strong management accounting, reporting and analytical skills.
• Experience in manufacturing or similar environment is advantageous.

Salary £60,000 to £65,000 plus bonus

An established manufacturing business based in Haverhill is seeking a Financial Controller to lead its finance function and support the senior leadership team with high-quality financial insight and reporting.

This is a hands-on role offering broad responsibility across financial control, commercial analysis, process improvement, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Leading budgeting and forecasting processes
• Delivering insightful management information and financial analysis
• Costing and variance analysis to support operational decision-making
• Ownership of month-end and year-end processes
• Supporting external audits and statutory reporting requirements
• Developing financial controls, systems, and processes
• Partnering with operational teams to improve business performance
• Managing and developing a small finance team

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred
• Strong management accounting, reporting, and analytical skills
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or a similar environment would be advantageous
• Comfortable working in a hands-on SME environment
• Strong systems and ERP knowledge with a continuous improvement mindset
• Leadership and team management experience
