Financial Controller

Chester (Hybrid)

We are now on the lookout for a Financial Controller to oversee and manage Proximo’s financial operations. This is a critical strategic role, providing senior management with timely and reliable financial information to support decision-making and drive overall business performance. This is a brand-new position, giving you the freedom to shape and develop our business processes as they evolve.

Key Responsibilities

This is a highly diverse role, responsible for leading the finance team, enhancing financial processes, and safeguarding Proximo’s assets.

• Develop and refine existing processes and procedures to uphold best-in-class corporate governance.
• Oversee month-end reporting, ensuring both deadlines and accuracy are consistently met.
• Collaborate with FP&A to produce and review financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with corporation tax obligations, submitting all required documentation accurately and punctually.
• Regularly review purchase ledgers, ensuring supplier payments are processed correctly and on time, maintaining strong relationships with external partners.
• Support the Finance Director with funding requirements, reporting needs, and other strategic financial initiatives as necessary.
• Explore potential IT solutions or initiatives that could streamline financial processes, boost efficiency, and improve reporting quality.

What are we looking for?

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with a strong background in financial control and management reporting. Practice-trained candidates are preferred.
• A minimum of five years' post-qualification experience.
• Outstanding organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proven leadership abilities and experience managing teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated experience in analysing and enhancing systems, processes, and financial strategies.
