Job description
Overview

Pentagon Talent are working with a well-established and respected law firm to recruit a skilled Financial Compliance Manager to join their Finance function. This important position will focus on safeguarding compliance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules, strengthening financial controls, and supporting colleagues across the business with expert guidance.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key role within a collaborative environment where finance and compliance are held in high regard, and where you will be working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure best practice is consistently applied.

This role can be part time, 3 or 4 days with hybrid working being flexible for part time but 2 days a week in the office for a full-time employee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and review reconciliations of client accounts, ensuring any variances are identified, investigated and resolved promptly.
  • Manage and maintain the breach log, escalating matters to the COFA and supporting reporting obligations to the SRA.
  • Draft, review and update firm-wide financial compliance policies and process notes in line with regulatory updates.
  • Carry out internal reviews and sample audits to test compliance, highlighting risks and implementing control improvements where necessary.
  • Support external audit activity and respond to regulatory queries in relation to financial compliance.
  • Deliver training and refresher sessions for lawyers and support staff, ensuring clear understanding of client money rules and responsibilities.
  • Produce regular management information reports, highlighting trends, breaches and remediation progress.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Have substantial experience in a similar compliance-focused role within a law firm (at least 5 years).
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the Solicitors' Accounts Rules and wider financial regulations.
  • Be confident in drafting policy documents, delivering training, and engaging with colleagues at all levels.
  • Bring strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail, combined with a pragmatic approach.
  • Hold (or be working towards) a recognised finance/accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA.
  • Be organised, adaptable and able to manage competing deadlines effectively.
