The Role:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support our financial operations. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our finance department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
• Conduct balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Process invoices, expense reports, and manage accounts payable/receivable.
• Oversee VAT returns, with specific attention to the VAT reverse charge mechanism applicable to the construction industry.
• Manage Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) compliance, including subcontractor verification and monthly returns.
• Monitor and report on work-in-progress (WIP) to support project accounting.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to financial regulations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 3-4 years of experience in a finance role, preferably within the construction or property refurbishment industry.
• Strong understanding of VAT reverse charge, CIS, and WIP accounting.
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• A proactive approach to process improvement and innovation in financial practices.
• Professional qualification (or working towards) such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent is a plus.
