Job summary

Carrington Wood is seeking a Financial Officer in Plymouth to provide efficient financial support across the organisation, working with the finance team. The role covers bookkeeping, ledgers, payroll, VAT, budgeting, reporting and audits.

You will maintain records, process payroll, assist with monthly closes and help with grant applications and funding opportunities. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a varied and responsible finance remit.

Qualifications

• Experience in bookkeeping and financial processes.
• Experience with purchase and sales ledgers.
• Experience processing payroll including PAYE and NIC.
• VAT and tax compliance knowledge.
• Experience with month-end processing and reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and support systems.
• Perform double-entry bookkeeping and manage ledgers.
• Oversee purchase ledger activities and payment runs.
• Oversee sales ledger and debt collection support.
• Process payroll from start to finish.
• Complete month-end processes and financial reports.
• Assist with budgets, year-end accounts, and audits.
• Assist with grant applications and funding opportunities.
• Support wider office and administrative duties as needed.
