Thompson & Terry Recruitment are partnering with a well-established Oxfordshire-based business to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for a part-time role. You will own the finance function and work closely with the MD to deliver accurate financial management and reporting.

You will manage ledgers, payroll, CIS, pension administration, HMRC reporting and payments, ensuring records are accurate and deadlines met, while liaising with project engineers and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing the finance function within an SME environment.
• Strong experience using Sage; ability to adopt and roll out new systems.
• Experience of payroll, PAYE, National Insurance, CIS and workplace pensions.
• Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations and credit control.
• Excellent organisational skills, numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of day-to-day finance operations and reporting.
• Oversee purchase and sales ledgers, project costing and payroll administration.
• Manage credit control, banking and cash management activities.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, accountants and directors to support business needs.

The Opportunity

Thompson & Terry Recruitment are delighted to be working with a successful and well-established business, just south of Oxford, who are looking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of their day-to-day finance function.

As Finance Manager, you will work closely with the Managing Director and take responsibility for the financial administration of a busy project-based business. This is a hands-on position requiring a candidate who is comfortable owning the finance function and supporting the wider business through accurate financial management and reporting.

The successful Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing purchase and sales ledgers, project costing, payroll administration, credit control, banking and cash management activities. You will manage supplier accounts, customer invoicing, payroll submissions, CIS administration, pension administration, HMRC reporting and payments, while ensuring financial records remain accurate and deadlines are met. As Finance Manager, you will also liaise regularly with project engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, accountants and directors to support the smooth running of the business.

This opportunity would suit an experienced finance professional who has previously taken responsibility for a substantial proportion of the finance function within an SME environment. The successful Finance Manager will be highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable working independently whilst maintaining close communication with senior stakeholders.
