Job summary

AMFRESH Group is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager for a six-month fixed-term contract at its Alconbury site. You will own month-end delivery, perform management accounting, and uphold robust financial controls, handling complex stock and GRNI valuations with precision.

Beyond month-end, you will focus on balance sheet reconciliations, process improvements, and reporting enhancements in collaboration with operations and commercial teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong month-end and management accounting experience.
• Background in FMCG or manufacturing and experience of stock accounting and valuations.
• Experience with large, complex datasets in Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive the month-end process, including journals, stock and GRNI valuations, and key reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentary against budget and forecast.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate differences and follow through on actions.
• Maintain financial controls and support the wider finance team.
• Prepare financial reports and contribute to senior leadership presentations and board packs.
• Improve month-end and reporting processes, including data quality and automation via Excel and Power BI.
• Collaborate with operations and commercial teams to understand performance and support financial decisions.
• Support ad hoc analysis and finance projects.

About The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to join AMFRESH on a six-month fixed-term contract, taking responsibility for month-end delivery, management accounting and financial controls.

Month-end is a busy, time-sensitive period, with complex stock and goods received not invoiced (GRNI) valuations requiring detailed manual work across large datasets. The role requires someone comfortable getting into the detail, resolving differences and delivering accurate reporting to tight deadlines.

Outside month-end, the focus moves to balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining financial controls and supporting the wider finance team. There is also scope to improve processes and reporting, working closely with operations and commercial colleagues.

About You

You will be a qualified accountant with strong month-end and management accounting experience, with a background in FMCG or manufacturing and experience of stock accounting and valuations.

The role would suit someone who enjoys detailed, practical finance work and can stay organised and accurate during a demanding month-end period.

Skills and experience

• An accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.
• Experience taking responsibility for month-end delivery and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large, complex datasets.
• A thorough approach to investigating discrepancies and maintaining financial controls.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with finance and operational colleagues.
• A proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes.

Experience using ERP systems and Power BI would also be beneficial.
