Job summary

Cole Connections Ltd is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function in a growing SME. The role is based in Reigate or Banstead, Surrey, with a fully office-based setup and standard hours from Monday to Friday. The salary is up to £50,000 depending on experience.

You will oversee budgeting, forecasting and cashflow, ensure robust financial reporting, and partner with senior leadership to support growth while maintaining controls and compliant processes.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years' experience within finance or accounting and a strong financial accounting background.
• Fully qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (professional accounting qualification).
• Experience across budget management, forecasting and cashflow management.
• Experience using Xero and ability to oversee end-to-end finance functions.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing budgets, including preparation, monitoring expenditure and analysing variances
• Preparing and maintaining financial forecasts to support effective financial planning
• Taking ownership of cashflow management, including monitoring cash positions and preparing cashflow forecasts
• Overseeing the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
• Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reconciliations
• Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations
• Managing VAT returns, payroll coordination and statutory reporting requirements
• Maintaining and improving financial controls, processes and procedures
• Providing accurate financial information and reports to senior leadership
• Supporting the continued growth of the business by ensuring the finance function remains efficient, organized and fit for purpose

Are you an experienced finance professional looking for an opportunity to take ownership of a finance function and make a real difference within a growing business?

We are working with an ambitious, growing SME looking to appoint a hands-on Finance Manager to oversee its day-to-day financial operations. Strong experience in budget management, financial forecasting and cashflow management is essential, alongside a solid financial accounting background.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone who has developed their skills within a larger organisation and would now enjoy bringing that knowledge and experience into a smaller business, where they can have greater ownership, work closely with senior leadership and grow alongside the company.

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 8 years' experience within finance or accounting, with a strong financial accounting background
• Fully qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA
• Demonstrable experience across all three key areas: budget management, financial forecasting and cashflow management
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and the confidence to manage an end-to-end finance function
• Previous experience of using Xero is essential
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership
• The confidence to work closely with senior leadership and adapt to the needs of a smaller business
• Experience gained within a larger organisation would be particularly welcome, although candidates from SME backgrounds will also be considered
