Job summary

Distinct | B Corp in Leicester is seeking a Finance Manager to take ownership of a broad financial accounting remit and to manage three direct reports. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead balance sheet control and deliver high-quality reporting for monthly and annual cycles.

This role suits an accountant moving from practice or industry with strong technical accounting, governance and a desire for greater ownership and team leadership.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA required.
• Strong reporting, balance sheet and controls experience.
• Experience with audits and statutory reporting preferred.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead balance sheet control and ensure key accounts are reconciled.
• Produce high-quality financial information for monthly and annual reporting.
• Coordinate year-end audit and act as primary contact for external auditors.
• Support preparation of statutory accounts and formal reporting.
• Manage cash reporting, bank accounting and short-term cash forecasting.
• Oversee fixed assets records and depreciation.
• Review VAT and corporation tax submissions.
• Support forecasts, budgets and performance analysis.
• Strengthen financial controls and improve reporting processes.
• Develop and mentor three finance team members.
• Collaborate with CFO on ad hoc financial projects.

Are you a qualified accountant considering your first or second move from practice? Or are you already working in industry and looking for a role with a stronger financial accounting focus?

I’m recruiting exclusively for a Finance Manager to join a successful Leicester-based business. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll take responsibility for a broad financial accounting remit, including ownership of the balance sheet and management of three direct reports.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking the lead on balance sheet control and ensuring all key accounts are accurately reconciled
• Producing high-quality financial information for monthly and annual reporting
• Coordinating the year-end audit and acting as a key contact for external auditors
• Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts and other formal reporting requirements
• Managing cash reporting, bank accounting and short-term cash forecasting
• Overseeing fixed assets and ensuring records are complete and up to date
• Reviewing tax-related submissions, including VAT and corporation tax information
• Supporting the wider finance team with forecasts, budgets and performance analysis
• Strengthening financial controls and improving the way information is produced
• Developing and supporting three members of the finance team
• Working closely with the CFO and wider business on ad hoc financial projects

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone moving out of practice who wants broader responsibility, exposure to a commercial environment and their first experience of team management.

It would also suit someone already working in industry who enjoys the technical and financial accounting side of finance and is looking for greater ownership.

You’ll need to be a qualified accountant — ACA, ACCA or CIMA — with strong financial reporting, balance sheet and controls experience.
