Job summary

Distinct Recruitment is recruiting a Finance Manager in Leicester to own the financial accounting remit. You will report to the CFO, manage three direct reports, and lead balance sheet control with accurate reconciliations.

You will produce monthly and annual financial information, coordinate the year-end audit, and support statutory reporting. The role offers exposure to tax submissions, cash forecasting, and commercial finance projects.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Strong financial reporting experience and solid balance sheet controls.
• Experience leading a small finance team and coordinating audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead balance sheet control and ensure key accounts are reconciled.
• Produce high-quality financial information for monthly and annual reporting.
• Coordinate year-end audit and liaise with external auditors.
• Prepare statutory accounts and formal reporting requirements.
• Manage cash reporting, bank accounting and short-term forecasting.
• Oversee fixed assets records and depreciation.

• Develop and support three finance staff members.

Finance Manager

Leicester | Up to £65,000 + 10% bonus, pension and life assurance

Are you a qualified accountant considering your first or second move from practice? Or are you already working in industry and looking for a role with a stronger financial accounting focus?

I’m recruiting exclusively for a Finance Manager to join a successful Leicester-based business. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll take responsibility for a broad financial accounting remit, including ownership of the balance sheet and management of three direct reports.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking the lead on balance sheet control and ensuring all key accounts are accurately reconciled
• Producing high-quality financial information for monthly and annual reporting
• Coordinating the year-end audit and acting as a key contact for external auditors
• Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts and other formal reporting requirements
• Managing cash reporting, bank accounting and short-term cash forecasting
• Overseeing fixed assets and ensuring records are complete and up to date
• Reviewing tax-related submissions, including VAT and corporation tax information
• Supporting the wider finance team with forecasts, budgets and performance analysis
• Strengthening financial controls and improving the way information is produced
• Developing and supporting three members of the finance team
• Working closely with the CFO and wider business on ad hoc financial projects

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone moving out of practice who wants broader responsibility, exposure to a commercial environment and their first experience of team management.

It would also suit someone already working in industry who enjoys the technical and financial accounting side of finance and is looking for greater ownership.

You’ll need to be a qualified accountant — ACA, ACCA or CIMA — with strong financial reporting, balance sheet and controls experience.
