Job summary

Harvey John is recruiting a Finance Manager near Bexhill to join a growing business and support the Group CFO. The role sits in a small finance function, with potential to evolve into a Group Financial Controller as the company grows.

You will train and manage a small team, oversee transactional finance, VAT returns, cash flow forecasting, and prepare management accounts across entities, while assisting with budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with professional certification.
• Experience leading a small finance team.
• Strong business partnering and stakeholder communication.
• Hands-on leader in a small company.
• Clean driving licence preferred.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business with great ambition based near Bexhill.

This is a brand new hire, joining a small finance function and supporting the Group CFO in running the finance function.

This will favour a fully qualified Finance Manager, with drive and ambition as the company continues to grow, as the role can and hopefully will evolve into a Group Financial Controller one in time.

You would be responsible for...

• Training and managing a small team (currently 2 but growing)
• Overseeing and having hands‑on input with the transactional aspects of finance
• VAT returns
• Active Credit Control management and cash flow forecasting
• Preparing management accounts across multiple entities
• Supporting the FD with Budget setting and Forecasting

The ideal candidate for this role will...

• Be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)- though those that are part-qualified but have particularly excellent experience shall also be considered
• Be driven and ambitious, as the company is growing and this role could have "legs" to be a Financial Controller role in time
• Be comfortable being "hands‑on" within a small company
• Have excellent leadership skills- you will need to have led a small finance team in the past
• Have strong Business Partnering skills and a confidence when communicating to various stakeholders
• Drive and own a car
