Job summary

Morgan Advanced Materials is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Finance Generalist to join our Swansea finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role supports the ERP implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and ensures smooth day-to-day financial operations during the transition.

You will work closely with the wider finance team, handling month-end activities, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting, and control compliance while maintaining business continuity throughout

Qualifications

• Experience as a Finance Generalist or similar role with month-end and reporting responsibilities.
• Experience in manufacturing/engineering environments is advantageous.
• Experience with ERP systems and ERP transitions is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and journal processing.
• Maintain general ledger records and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end close activities and variance analysis.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting and group reporting.
• Support internal and external audit activities.
• Ensure internal controls and policies are followed during ERP implementation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and provide finance support as required.

Assistant Controller / Finance Generalist (6-Month FTC)

Location: Swansea

Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Morgan Advanced Materials is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Finance Generalist to join our Swansea-based finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role has been created to provide critical finance support during the implementation of our new Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP system.

Working closely with the wider finance team, you will help ensure day-to-day financial operations continue to run smoothly while supporting business continuity throughout the transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and journal processing
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals, prepayments and variance analysis
• Prepare and support monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting and group reporting requirements
• Support internal and external audit activities
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards and company policies
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business and provide finance support as required
• Help maintain finance documentation and controls during the ERP implementation

About You

• Previous experience within a Finance Generalist, Management Accountant, Financial Accountant or Assistant Controller role
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting
• Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or operational environment would be advantageous
• Familiarity with ERP systems; experience of ERP implementations or system migrations is desirable
• A proactive and hands‑on approach with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification desirable but not essential
• Qualified by experience candidates are encouraged to apply
