Job summary

Rebel Recruiters is seeking a hands-on Finance Director to take ownership of the financial function in Nottingham. This full-time, office-based role focuses on robust financial planning, reporting and forecasting to support growth.

You'll manage day-to-day finance activities, drive cash-flow planning and present insights to the board and investors, with external support for specialised inputs where needed.

Role: Finance Director Location: Nottingham

Working Arrangement: Full-time, Office based- negotiable

Salary: Up to £120k

A growing business is looking for an experienced Finance Director to take ownership of its financial function and provide clear financial insight to support future growth.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage the day‑to‑day finance function while also developing stronger financial planning, reporting and forecasting. You ll work closely with senior leadership, the Board and investors, helping turn financial information into meaningful business decisions.

The role

You ll oversee the existing finance processes, including transactions, VAT and payroll through Xero, while developing the function further to support financial planning and forecasting.

A key focus will be cash‑flow planning and reporting, with Excel initially being used before transitioning towards more integrated planning within Xero. You ll also be responsible for financial reporting to the Board and investors, as well as supporting reporting requirements connected to funded projects.

The role will also cover R&D Tax Credits, Capital Allowances and the management and revaluation of assets, including intangible assets. External support is available where specialist input is required.

What we're looking for

Full working knowledge of Xero is essential, particularly across financial transactions, VAT and payroll. Experience with Fathom would be advantageous, along with knowledge of cash‑flow forecasting, R&D Tax Credits, Capital Allowances and asset accounting.

You ll need to be comfortable presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and investors, working independently and providing practical insight rather than simply reporting the numbers.
