The Finance Business Partner will act as a trusted adviser and critical friend, providing strategic financial advice and guidance to senior leaders. The post holder will collaborate with colleagues across the force, representing finance and integrating it into decision-making processes. Description

The Finance Business Partner will:

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to align resources with strategic priorities, offering financial advice, modelling, and options appraisals.
  • Challenge risky or unclear plans and work on solutions to improve efficiency and value.
  • Lead financial assessments of major procurements, integrate asset strategies with financial planning, and support forecasting and strategic planning.
  • Provide financial support to external partners and contribute to collaborative initiatives.
  • Enhance financial literacy through training and provide insights at key meetings, ensuring coherence of financial plans and supporting inspections.
  • Benchmark with other forces to share best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement, manage cost drivers, and develop financial systems.
  • Support the Senior Finance Business Partner and deputize when necessary.
  • Lead on financial policies, ensuring compliance with relevant authorities.

Profile

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified C.C.A.B. or CIMA accountant.
  • Have recent experience in a finance business partnering role or demonstrate understanding of its outcomes.
  • Be able to interpret complex legislation and policies to provide financial insights.
  • Possess strong commercial acumen and the ability to advise and negotiate confidently with senior stakeholders.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and IT literacy, especially in Excel and ERP systems.
  • Be open to change, innovative, analytical, and a team player capable of working under pressure.
