Job summary

An opportunity has arisen at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust for a dedicated individual to join our Financial Management team as a Part-time (18.75 hrs) Assistant Finance Business Partner supporting the Research and Development team. The role is on a 12-month fixed-term basis, with potential for extension subject to securing future research funding.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, flexible, and demonstrates a commitment to achieving both their own and the Trust's goals while contributing fully to the team.

The successful applicant will work within the Financial Management team and align with the Research and Development function.

The finance team are an accredited ACCA employer, having achieved One NHS Finance Towards Excellence Accreditation, level 1, with plans to progress to level 2.

Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of the role is to ensure:

  1. Sound financial management support to Research and Innovation (R&I) within the Trust, providing advice and financial information to research teams and finance colleagues.
  2. Collaboration with research funders, including the NIHR, on reporting and forecasting research expenditure.
  3. Proper identification and quantification of proposed R&I activities.
  4. Accurate income receipt and correct recharge of funding resources from business units, with aligned income and expenditure budgets.
  5. Effective coordination and monitoring of funds flows at both scheme and global levels, with appropriate reports and analysis.
  6. Maintenance of sound governance around R&I accounting to identify and manage risks.
  7. Provision of specialist financial input for the completion and submission of key Trust returns.

While this position primarily focuses on R&I, it also involves acting as a general financial advisor to both finance and non-finance colleagues.

You must be capable of working to tight deadlines, ensuring accuracy and consistency, prioritising workloads, and working independently as well as under supervision.
