Job Opportunity: Finance Business Partner

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner to work with Southern Water on a temporary basis for 3 to 4 months. This role offers a hybrid working model: 2 days in the office at Durrington or Falmer, and 3 days from home.

Rate of pay: £400 per day (inside IR35)

Job Overview

As a Finance Business Partner, you will collaborate with critical business units, providing strategic and operational insights to enhance business performance. Your responsibilities include complex financial analyses, financial modelling, scenario planning, and ensuring budgetary accountability. You will report on KPIs to optimize costs and identify risks and opportunities.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will engage with stakeholders across the organization, building strong relationships and providing valuable business insights. You should be a self-starter capable of working independently within a team environment.

Core Duties

• Serve as the finance lead for designated business areas, providing financial reporting and support.
• Manage budget and forecast processes for opex & capex, offering guidance on assumptions, efficiencies, risks, and opportunities.
• Enhance financial and KPI reporting for accuracy and consistency.
• Provide financial insights and governance across projects, assessing status and recommending actions.
• Build close relationships with corporate teams to ensure proper financial structures and governance.
• Improve forecasting techniques to enhance accuracy and compliance with regulations.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience, with a background in a fast-paced business partnering role.
• Strong finance skills, including FP&A, accounting, governance, and controls.
• Excellent communicator, comfortable leading financial discussions with non-finance colleagues.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong business acumen, influencing skills, and judgment.
• Adaptability to changing environments and ambiguity.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of MS Power BI or willingness to learn.
