Job Description:
Edenbrook is working with a leading global insurer seeking to hire a Finance Business Partner for their Life Insurance business. The role involves supporting the UK Life business to deliver its commercial strategy, developing and delivering financial plans, and acting as the key contact for all finance topics. The successful candidate will lead the UK Life Finance Business Partnering team and report to the UK Life CFO, deputising as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support UK Life in understanding and improving financial performance, providing insights to guide strategy for better results.
- Build strong relationships within UK Life, becoming a trusted finance partner and presenting insights in leadership meetings.
- Lead the UK Life Finance team, fostering a positive culture and supporting reporting and planning improvements.
- Ensure financial models and projections are accurate with proper controls, documentation, and testing.
- Develop ad-hoc financial models and analyses to support business initiatives.
- Monitor financial performance against plans and forecasts, providing support to meet targets.
- Assist with the annual planning cycle, aligning it with UK & Group timelines.
- Provide analytical tools for senior management to track product and service performance.
- Support UK Life Business Unit Reviews, preparing reports for senior leadership.
- Advise on new business opportunities and provide financial input for initiatives.
- Assist in preparing Board and Committee reports, including quarterly updates.
- Support transformation efforts in Finance and UK Life.
- Lead and mentor the UK Life finance team, developing financial plans and reports.
- Serve as a senior leader in the Finance team, demonstrating leadership and driving projects.
- Stay updated on industry trends and their impact on performance relative to competitors.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent leadership experience, coaching and developing teams to become future senior leaders.
- Extensive experience in building relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the UK financial performance framework; experience with IFRS17 is advantageous.
- Ability to deliver complex financial analysis and serve as a subject matter expert.
- Experience acting as a conduit between finance and business/support functions.
- Strong influencing, negotiating, and communication skills at a senior level.
- Analytical mindset with strong business acumen.
- Fully qualified accountant or relevant qualification, with extensive UK team leadership experience.
- A proactive thought leader supporting business strategy.
