Do you have an interest or experience in working in a transactional finance environment? Do you enjoy working as part of a team and feel passionate about customer-facing support? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
About The Team
The Finance Operations team is part of the wider group Finance team, responsible for all transactional finance activities, including accounts payable and receivable, cash and bank administration, corporate and procurement cards, and the corporate contracts that support colleagues across the entire HM Treasury Group.
We are looking for two Finance Assistants to join our close-knit team: one with a focus on reconciliations, and the other on accounts payable.
About The Job
In the accounts payable role, you will:
- Process supplier invoices and complete regular supplier payment runs, working closely with the Purchase to Pay team to set up and maintain supplier details.
- Process all payments via our online banking system, ensuring all necessary checks and controls are followed and data accuracy is maintained in our financial systems.
- Manage the daily administration of the Government Procurement and Corporate Cards, monitoring and promoting cardholder compliance, and providing transactional data for transparency reporting.
In the reconciliations role, you will:
- Reconcile HM Treasury group bank accounts, record daily cash management activities, and complete month-end close-down activities for the Cash Management, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable modules in our financial system.
- Complete a monthly schedule of reconciliations for various control accounts, including payroll costs and staff debtor accounts, liaising with internal teams and our payroll provider to investigate variances or resolve errors.
- Process sales invoice requests, banking payments and receipts, record income, and build weekly BACs payment run batches. Ensure data validity and accuracy in our financial systems, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Work closely with colleagues to deliver excellent customer service, using clear and confident communication to manage expectations and support team objectives.
About You
You will be able to:
- Think creatively to solve challenging problems while meeting customer and business needs.
- Build and proactively maintain excellent working relationships for effective service delivery, supporting colleagues to achieve team objectives.
- Manage multiple workloads, meet deadlines, follow procedures, and maintain accuracy and quality of work.
Benefits
Some of the benefits our people love include:
- 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), plus 8 public holidays and the King’s birthday (unless you have a legacy arrangement as an existing Civil Servant). Flexitime options allow up to 2 additional days off each month.
- Flexible working patterns (part-time, job-share, condensed hours).
- Generous parental and adoption leave packages.
- Access to a comprehensive Defined Benefit pension scheme with 28% employer contributions.
