Job description

Do you have an interest or experience in working in a transactional finance environment? Do you enjoy working as part of a team and feel passionate about customer-facing support? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

About The Team

The Finance Operations is part of the wider group Finance team, responsible for all transactional finance activities, including accounts payable and receivable, cash and bank administration, corporate and procurement cards, and the corporate contracts that support colleagues across the whole HM Treasury Group.

We are looking for two Finance Assistants to join our close-knit team, one with a reconciliations focus, and the other with an accounts payable focus.

About The Job

In the accounts payable role, you will:

  1. Process supplier invoices and complete regular supplier payment runs, working closely with the Purchase to Pay team to set up and maintain supplier details.
  2. Process all payments via our online banking system, ensuring all the necessary checks and controls are followed and the accuracy of data recorded in our financial systems.
  3. Manage the daily administration of the Government Procurement and Corporate Cards, monitoring and promoting cardholder compliance, and providing transactional data for transparency reporting.

In the reconciliation role, you will:

  1. Reconcile HM Treasury group bank accounts, recording daily cash management activities and completing month-end close-down activities for the Cash management, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable modules in our financial system.
  2. Complete a monthly schedule of reconciliations for the various control accounts, including payroll costs and staff debtor accounts, liaising with internal teams and our payroll provider to investigate any variances or resolve errors on upload.
  3. Process sales invoice requests, banking payments and receipts, recording income, and building the weekly BACs payment run batches. Ensure the validity and accuracy of data recorded in our financial systems and that all queries and discrepancies are investigated and resolved.

You will work closely with your colleagues to deliver excellent customer service, use clear and confident communication to manage expectations, and demonstrate a positive approach in supporting the team to deliver their objectives.

About You

You will be able to:

  1. Think creatively to solve challenging problems, whilst meeting the needs and expectations of customers and the business.
  2. Build and proactively maintain excellent working relationships for effective management of service delivery, whilst supporting and working closely with colleagues to achieve team objectives.
  3. Manage multiple workloads, ensuring deadlines are met and relevant procedures are followed, whilst maintaining accuracy and quality of work.
Some of the Benefits our people love!
  • 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), plus 8 public holidays and the King’s birthday (unless you have a legacy arrangement as an existing Civil Servant). Additionally, we operate flexitime systems, allowing employees to take up to an additional 2 days off each month.
  • Flexible working patterns (part-time, job-share, condensed hours).
  • Generous parental and adoption leave packages.
  • Access to a generous Defined Benefit pension scheme with employer contributions of 28%.
  • Access to a cycle-to-work salary sacrifice scheme and season ticket advances.
  • A range of active staff networks, based around interests (e.g., analysts, music society, sports, and social club) and diversity.
