Job description

This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We understand the importance of flexibility, and for the right candidate, we are happy to offer reduced hours to fit around school times, as well as a hybrid working arrangement with a mix of home and office-based work.

Role Summary

Based at our head office at Fratton Park, you will be a vital part of our finance department — helping to keep things running smoothly day-to-day. From processing payments and managing ledgers to supporting with reporting and reconciliation, your work will ensure the numbers stay as sharp as the team on the pitch. This is more than just finance — it’s about being part of something bigger.

Your key responsibilities will include:

As Finance Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in the smooth day-to-day running of our accounts function. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the finance team with daily accounting tasks and general operations
  • Managing the finance inbox and ensuring timely responses to internal and external queries
  • Accurately entering purchase orders and invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals are in place
  • Handling supplier queries, reconciling statements, and assisting with other ad hoc tasks
  • Producing payment runs for review
  • Preparing and processing nominal ledger payments
  • Processing sales invoices in a timely manner
  • Supporting the credit control tasks
  • Preparing daily revenue reports for internal review
  • Issuing and posting petty cash
  • Providing day-to-day support to the Senior Finance Assistant and wider finance team
  • Assisting with other finance-related tasks as required — including payroll, VAT returns, P11Ds, and compliance reporting
About The Candidate

Your Skills and Experience

  • AAT Qualified/Level 3 desirable /qualified by experience
  • Experience in SAGE desirable
  • Ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communicator across all colleague levels
