Job summary

The Roof Gardens in Kensington is seeking a proactive Finance Assistant to join the busy finance team. You will support transactional finance activities, including accounts payable, VAT preparation, reconciliations and month-end processes, ensuring records are accurate and deadlines met.

You will work closely with colleagues across Finance and operations, demonstrate attention to detail, and take ownership of day-to-day tasks in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role.
• Good understanding of accounts payable and reconciliations.
• Strong numeracy skills and experience with Excel and financial data.
• Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to records.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage priorities.
• Proactive, hands-on approach and ownership of day-to-day responsibilities.
• Team player with clear communication across Finance and operations.
• Experience supporting month-end and VAT preparation would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable processes including supplier invoice processing and payments.
• Assist with VAT return preparation and reconciliations.
• Support routine daily, weekly and monthly finance processes and reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and balance sheet reconciliations as required.
• Support month-end processes ensuring accuracy and deadlines.
• Provide general finance administration and financial analysis as required.
• Collaborate with Finance and operational teams to maintain efficient processes.

The Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team. Working closely with the wider Finance team, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth running of our day-to-day finance operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, processes are completed efficiently and reporting is delivered to a high standard.

You will support a range of transactional finance activities, including accounts payable, VAT preparation, reconciliations and month-end processes. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong eye for detail and is comfortable working in a hands-on environment where teamwork, organisation and a proactive approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable processes, including supplier invoice processing, payment preparation and supplier account administration.
• Assist with VAT return preparation, supporting analysis and reconciliations.
• Support routine daily, weekly and monthly finance processes and reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and complete balance sheet and other account reconciliations as required.
• Support month-end processes, ensuring financial information is accurate and deadlines are met.
• Provide general finance administration and financial analysis as required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance and operational teams to maintain efficient processes and support the wider business.

Skills & Requirements

• Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role.
• A good understanding of accounts payable, reconciliations and basic accounting principles.
• Strong numeracy skills, with confidence using Excel, financial systems and working with financial data.
• Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical and accurate approach to maintaining financial records.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• A proactive, hands-on approach, with the confidence to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities.
• A collaborative team player who communicates effectively and builds positive working relationships across Finance and operational teams.
• Experience supporting month-end processes and VAT preparation would be beneficial.
• An AAT qualification, or studying towards AAT or an equivalent accounting qualification, would be advantageous but is not essential.
