Job summary

The Roof Gardens is seeking a proactive Finance Assistant to join the team at Kensington. You will work with the Finance team to keep day-to-day financial records accurate and ensure timely reporting.

The role covers accounts payable, VAT preparation, reconciliations, and monthly closing activities, with a focus on detail, accuracy, and collaborative teamwork. You will contribute to orderly financial processes, support management reporting, and help maintain efficient financial systems while

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance Assistant or accounts payable role.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations and VAT basics.
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail with financial data.
• AAT qualification, or studying towards AAT or equivalent, is advantageous.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team. Working closely with the wider Finance team, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth running of our day-to-day finance operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, processes are completed efficiently and reporting is delivered to a high standard.

You will support a range of transactional finance activities, including accounts payable, VAT preparation, reconciliations and month-end processes. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong eye for detail and is comfortable working in a hands-on environment where teamwork, organisation and a proactive approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable processes, including supplier invoice processing, payment preparation and supplier account administration.
• Assist with VAT return preparation, supporting analysis and reconciliations.
• Support routine daily, weekly and monthly finance processes and reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and complete balance sheet and other account reconciliations as required.
• Support month-end processes, ensuring financial information is accurate and deadlines are met.
• Provide general finance administration and financial analysis as required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance and operational teams to maintain efficient processes and support the wider business.

Skills & Requirements

• Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role.
• A good understanding of accounts payable, reconciliations and basic accounting principles.
• Strong numeracy skills, with confidence using Excel, financial systems and working with financial data.
• Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical and accurate approach to maintaining financial records.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• A proactive, hands-on approach, with the confidence to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities.
• A collaborative team player who communicates effectively and builds positive working relationships across Finance and operational teams.
• Experience supporting month-end processes and VAT preparation would be beneficial.
• An AAT qualification, or studying towards AAT or an equivalent accounting qualification, would be advantageous but is not essential.
