Job summary

SP Electricity North West is looking for a Field Telemetry Technician to install, maintain and repair RTUs and intelligent devices across the network, enabling real-time monitoring and control as part of our SCADA and automation systems.

You will diagnose faults, configure equipment, analyse telemetry data and work with internal teams and contractors to deliver telemetry projects while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 2 / NVQ Level 2 in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Apprenticeship completed in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Willingness to pursue ONC/HNC qualifications.
• Experience with electrical or electronic fault finding, repair and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of DC and AC power systems.
• Good IT skills and familiarity with laptops and configuration software.
• Familiarity with automation and telemetry systems.
• Ability to work safely and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and support RTUs and intelligent devices across the network.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs per maintenance standards.
• Support SCADA, Telemetry and Automation systems operation and development.
• Program and configure equipment using specialist software and IT systems.
• Analyse telemetry and fault data to improve network performance.
• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders on telemetry projects.
• Support new technologies contributing to Smart Grid ambitions.
• Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental standards and policies.
