Job summary

Home Instead Exeter & East Devon is seeking a Field Care Supervisor to mentor, coach, and support a team of Care Professionals across the territory. The role is field-based with office time for admin and meetings, visiting clients and staff, and covering on-call duties.

You’ll lead trainings, monitor quality, and maintain warm, professional relationships with families. The ideal candidate holds Level 3 Health & Social Care, a full UK driving licence, and proven experience supervising care staff

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
• Experience delivering personal care incl. MAR/eMAR.
• Experience delivering training or supervising care staff.
• Strong communicator with clients, families and colleagues.
• Comfortable using care management technology.
• Organised, flexible and confident handling direct conversations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct shadow visits to assess competency and sign off Care Professionals as safe to work unsupervised.
• Provide ongoing supervision and support visits and identify refresher training needs.
• Introduce new Care Professionals and help them settle in.
• Spot issues affecting Care Professionals early and provide right support.
• Have honest, constructive conversations when practice needs improvement.
• Support welfare matters and disciplinary processes with retention focus.
• Maintain regular contact with clients and families and build relationships.
• Keep accurate Care Professional and client records.
• Take part in the on-call rota.

Job Description

Are you a confident, caring professional who loves developing others - someone who can mentor, coach, and support a team of Care Professionals to be the best they can be? We're looking for a Field Care Supervisor to join our Outstanding-rated team.

The role

You'll provide the ongoing training, supervision, and mentoring that helps our Care Professionals feel confident, capable, and want to stay, while maintaining strong, warm relationships with the clients and families they support. It's a field-based role — you'll be out visiting Care Professionals and clients across the territory, with office time for admin and team meetings.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting shadow visits to assess practical competency, and signing off Care Professionals as safe to work unsupervised
• Carrying out ongoing supervisions and support visits, and identifying refresher training needs following quality or incident findings
• Conducting introductions for new Care Professionals and helping them settle in
• Spotting issues affecting Care Professionals early and stepping in with the right support to help them improve and stay in role
• Having honest, constructive conversations when practice needs to improve — supportively, but without shying away from it
• Supporting welfare matters and, where needed, the disciplinary process, with a retention-first mindset
• Maintaining regular contact with clients and families, and building positive relationships with everyone involved in their care
• Keeping accurate Care Professional and client records
• Taking part in the on-call rota

Full or part-time considered. This role includes participation in the on-call rota and weekend work (1 in 2).

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Experience delivering personal care, ideally including MAR sheets/eMAR and medication support
• Experience supporting, training, or supervising care staff
• A great communicator who builds rapport quickly - with clients, families, and colleagues alike
• Comfortable with care management technology (and happy to help others learn it too)
• Organised, flexible, and confident having direct conversations when standards need to be addressed
