Job summary

AVT, a global leader in high-speed print inspection systems, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join the UK team.

You will provide on-site and remote support across the UK with occasional travel in Europe, install and service AVT systems at customer sites, and train users. Ideally based in Leeds, with openness to Nottingham, Leicester or Manchester.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or related field.
• Strong technical aptitude and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Comfortable with computers, software, operating systems and networks.
• Prior field service or hands-on technical experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers across the U.K., with occasional travel within Europe.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair AVT’s advanced print inspection systems at customer sites, mainly within the printing and packaging industries.
• Diagnose hardware, software, electrical and mechanical issues and work closely with AVT’s regional and global support teams to resolve them.
• Train customers on the day-to-day use and maintenance of AVT systems.
• Support remote diagnostics for system and application issues.
• Maintain accurate service reports, follow-up actions and spare-part requests/returns.
• Work independently at customer sites while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer service.

Who You Are

• Degree, diploma or technical qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
• Strong technical aptitude and logical fault-finding skills.
• Hands-on understanding of electronics and mechanics, with the ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Comfortable working with computers, software applications, operating systems and networks.
• Previous experience in field service, technical support, industrial equipment or a similar hands-on technical environment is an advantage.
• Customer-oriented, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently, manage priorities and remain effective in a fast-paced production environment.
• Willing to travel frequently across the U.K., with occasional travel within Europe.
• Positive, reliable, curious and eager to continue developing professionally.
