About the Role

Avtron is a global leader in the design and manufacture of Load Banks and Dynamometers, supplying customers across the power generation, utilities, defence and industrial sectors. We are committed to engineering excellence, innovation and delivering quality products right first time.

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team and provide a high level of technical support to customers throughout the lifetime of our products.

This is a hands‑on, customer‑focused role involving technical fault‑finding, repair, commissioning, testing and maintenance of Load Bank and Dynamometer equipment. Support will be provided remotely and at customer sites, with regular international travel required as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct technical support to customers, diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults across Load Bank and Dynamometer products via telephone, email, remote connection and on site.
  • Carry out commissioning, testing, customer training, planned maintenance and repairs at customer sites worldwide, with travel sometimes required at short notice.
  • Manage warranty claims and service activities, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and to the satisfaction of both the customer and Avtron.
  • Produce accurate service reports, commissioning documentation, fault analysis and certification, while maintaining detailed service records using SAP Business One.
  • Work closely with Sales, Design, Production and Customer Service teams to support continuous improvement, identify recurring issues and ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental and International Trade requirements.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum ONC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, with formal technical training such as a structured apprenticeship desirable.
  • Proven experience in electrical and mechanical fault‑finding, repair and testing, ideally within an industrial or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and test procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a customer‑facing environment.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and SAP Business One or an equivalent system, together with a willingness to travel worldwide and a valid passport and full UK driving licence.
Why Join Avtron?

At Avtron, you'll become part of a collaborative engineering business where quality, innovation and customer service are at the heart of everything we do. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with customers across the UK and internationally, working on specialist Load Bank and Dynamometer equipment and solving a wide range of technical challenges.

This role offers the opportunity to develop your technical expertise, work across multiple engineering disciplines and play a key role in ensuring our customers receive the highest level of support throughout the lifetime of their equipment.

Avtron is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know and we'll be happy to support you.
